I have signed up for a free student license and have received my product key however I am struggling to enter the license key to start a project.
On logging in to one click LCA when I hover over the “Licenses” button at the top there is no option to click “available subscriptions” or “add license for”. See attached snip “One Click 1”.
Following the One click student license guidance page I am instructed to add a new “building project”. However the “add” a new project button doesn’t show instead it shows as “start a free trial”. If I click start a building trial and then try and enter my student license key I get an error saying “Could not activate license. It is not compatible with this entity class.”. See attached snip “license application error” & “One Click 2”,
Student license doesn’t allow me to contact helpdesk so I would be really grateful if anyone could help advise what the issue is ?
Thanks for reaching out about the issues you’re having with the free student license. You’ll find all the steps you need in the following article: Free One Click LCA Student License (Building LCA). Make sure to follow the instructions carefully and enter the correct license key.
Just so you know, you can now apply for the free student license directly through that same article. Once you start the application process, you’ll be asked for a few details and then guided with the appropriate instructions based on your situation.
I am writing this as I am experiencing the same problem as @Matthew_Malkin: despite having received the student license key, when I log into my Building One Click LCA account (with my university email, of course), I only get the “Start free trial” button instead of “Add new project” and therefore, I am not able to enter my license key anywhere.
Could the problem be due to the fact that I created the One Click LCA account using my univeristy email BEFORE getting the license key, so maybe at the creation of the account my email was not linked to a student profile? Or is the problem caused by something else? How can I solve as soon as possible?
Don’t worry—creating an account won’t interfere with this process. Regardless of what you see on your screen, you can always start a project without an active license.
Simply select ‘Building (trials available)’, but instead of picking a trial, click ‘Enter license key’.
If that doesn’t clear the path, please send over a screenshot of what you’re seeing and I’ll take a closer look!
