I exported a project containing private constructions for various wall assemblies. In the exported file I can see the name of each construction as an individual row, with the contained materials in subsequent rows.
I would like to re-import the same file, and keep the same constructions if possible. However, the import wizard does not recognize the private construction rows and does not seem to import the individual materials belonging to the private construction.
Is there any way to re-import private constructions OR a least import all materials of a construction individually.
I will be in touch with you concerning this issue. Based on your description of the problem, it looks likely that something has not worked as designed.
I didn’t realize constructions within a project need to be published, even internally, to allow the export/import process correctly link materials to a construction.
Using ‘Create a variant and replace’ feature (in the old interface) and selecting my company name from the ‘Create group for:’ drop down, worked.
Thanks for raising the topic. It will help with others who encountered the same issue.
In the software, there are two ways to save a construction. One at a local level, that is within the project itself, and the other in the company account (which requires a Designer and above license).
We advocate saving constructions in the company account, especially if they will be reused. This eliminates the need to re-create the constructions again in a new project. It will also be helpful to have this available to all colleagues working on the same license and in the same company account.
Once a private construction is available in the company account, you can also leverage on it when importing data into a new design. You can reuse the same private construction in any import. The import process will pick this up and identify it by looking into the company account.
This again saves you much time just entering information for a single row than providing five rows of data for all the materials in a single construction.
