I’m unable to add an EPD made in accordance with EN 15804:2012+A2 in a project modelled using LCA for Green Star. Can I use another EPD in the market with similar values as the EPD of the product installed as proxy? Would this approach be considered appropriate as long as the emissions are the same or higher?

Your proposed workflow is one option indeed. For New Zealand, we do have a Green Star tool available, which is aligned with +A2.
Any manufacturer that publishes an EPD for their product since July 2022 will likely do so according to the newer standard, which means the number of new available datapoints in the Green Star Australia tool will be lower until they decide to switch over to EN15804+A2 for the results requirements as well.
