We have an infrastructure project, in which we had all the materials under construction materials. We started to adjust the service lives and transportation distances of the materials, and errors started appearing- “Incompatible tool”. When exporting, any material that had this error did not calculate the full life cycle correctly. When clicked to replace the materials with this error, it would not allow me to input the same EPD, I had to change the EPD and then the error went away. Does anyone know why these errors happened?
Hi Haley,
Thanks for raising this and for sharing more details with the Support Team.
The issue is not directly caused by adjusting the service lives or transportation distances themselves. The “incompatible tool” error is typically caused by datapoints that are not compatible with the selected tool.
In this case, the datapoints appear to have been entered using a tool that utilizes TRACI datasets, while the current active tool (PAS2080:2023) where the error appeared is compatible with CML (EN15804 +A1) and PEF (EN15804 +A1). Because these methodologies calculate impacts differently, they should not be used interchangeably within the same design. This is also why you were not able to find the same material using the PAS2080 tool and impacts were not calculated correctly.
We have also provided a more detailed, project-specific explanation through the support email to help clarify the issue.
