Do you use Autodesk Revit + the One Click LCA plugin? Let us know what we should develop next!

Hello Revit users! Our BIM Manager @Maciej is planning the next iteration of the Autodesk Revit One Click LCA Plugin and is looking for feedback to further develop the plugin.

Do you like the current version of the plugin or do you believe we should add something new? Let us know in the survey below

Hello,
I have a Business license and we are currently testing the One Click LCA plugin in Revit, as some of our projects are developed in this software. Our goal is to evaluate the automation capabilities of this plugin for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
However, I have noticed some issues when working with IFC models rather than native Revit models. Specifically, when an IFC model is shared with me and inserted as a link, and then I integrate all the linked models, I encounter the following challenges:
|

  1. When using the One Click LCA plugin and importing the data into LCA in Cloud, I notice that when I download the Excel file, we cannot be certain that the material attributes (e.g., interior or exterior wall, area, or volume) are preserved from the native file. For example, here is the Excel file extracted from an IFC model:
    CLASS | MATERIAL | VOLUMEN | CATEGORY | FAMILIA | TIPO|

  2. On the other hand, when I export the data from a native Revit file, the output is different. Here is an example from another project:

  3. Also, when I open the IFC model in another way By downloading the Excel file from LCA in the cloud, I notice that although there is some differentiation of materials, the IFC model processed by One Click LCA retains some attributes (interior or exterior wall, area, volume),

  1. but when compared with the scheduling table extracted from the IFC model, there are discrepancies.

While I recognize that further quality control is required, I believe something is misaligned in the data processing. If this issue occurs with an IFC model, it is likely that even with an Expert license (allowing full BIM integration), similar inconsistencies would persist.

To address this, I would like to know if anyone has developed a Dynamo routine to automatically assign material descriptions to ensure correct material mapping. Since the One Click LCA plugin does not allow modifying or visualizing materials directly from an IFC model in Revit, automation could significantly speed up the material assignment process and enhance the accuracy of LCA calculations.

Has anyone faced a similar issue or found a workaround for this?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out.

Discrepancies Between IFC Exported from Revit and Native Revit File Data
The One Click LCA Revit plugin reads data directly from the model and is not specifically optimized for IFC files. When working with IFC models instead of native Revit files, discrepancies in quantities, such as material attributes, area, or volume, may arise. These differences occur due to variations in how Revit and IFC handle data and how it’s exported/imported. It’s important to note that the plugin does not cause any data loss; it simply reads the data available in the model. Any inconsistencies are most likely due to how the IFC file was processed during export or import. For best results it is recommended to use Revit native files when using One Click LCA Revit integration.

Dynamo script for Revit. One Click LCA has not yet developed a Dynamo integration, but we can consider development. Would you be interested in testing it and providing feedback if we move forward with this? Your insights would be incredibly valuable in shaping the tool.

IFC files. We have recently released an IFC Viewer & data exporter BETA, which is now available for testing. The feature allows for preview IFC files and import data to One Click LCA without any additional software. You are welcome to participate in the testing phase and provide feedback.
