Is there such thing as a separate database page for input materials similar to search engine as on the Input data : Building materials? I’m looking for a more efficient way to browse different materials comfortably in a bigger window than the rather small window provided by the current material selection interface.
Ahh! I, myself, have been asking for this for a while. It is quite hard and confusing to browse for alternative options in the current interface.
Access to some external database would be beneficial. In Finland we have access to the separate database CO2data for a selection of generic, common materials which functions like this. However, in going outside of this limited and unspecific information the quest of finding what you are looking for gets challenging!
Hi Aino! That’s a great question and there is indeed! We have recently (in May) launched a new tool called Materials Compass, which allows you to browse the entire database in a much easier-to-navigate environment.
Note that we are updating all the calculation tools as well with this new search mechanic, however, in calculation tools, you are still restricted to using data that is allowed to be used.
It’s included with Expert licenses, and the public version is always available to everyone. You can reach that at: https://materials.oneclicklca.com/en
You may be able to access it through the Aalto University licenses.
@joakim.kling you can access the CO2data.fi database through materials compass as well, all the data is available in materials compass.
Thank you Steven, how lovely! Exactly what I’m looking for.
In addition to this, it would be great to be able to develop your own “go to”-library in case that kind of function already is included to the expert version.
and you can mark materials as favorites, which would have them show up in your search results in projects as the first if they match your search criteria. Is that roughly what you meant?
We do also have the option to have a private materials library where you can add unpublished EPDs and the such, which would be then for your use only.
By the way, do you happen to know whether the Helsinki Carbon Experts Summit will be held also in English? Me and my collegue are interested in joining and were wondering about the language accessibility of the event.
I’m fairly sure it’s in Finnish but it’s a great opportunity to learn Finnish on the spot! All jokes aside it could still be interesting to follow if you do not speak Finnish. I will attend myself too.
