It seems that the recycled content figures reported in most (if not all) of the World Steel Association datasets are incorrect. They currently indicate a recycled content of 2%, which, according to the dataset descriptions, refers only to pre-consumer scrap (e.g., scrap generated during the production process). However, the total scrap input—including post-consumer scrap—is not specified in the dataset descriptions, even though these values are available in other World Steel Association reports.
This misrepresentation of recycled content leads to inaccuracies in the calculation of Module D, especially when end-of-life (EoL) scenarios assume recycling. In the case of the World Steel datasets, Module D tends to be significantly overestimated because their actual scrap content is way above 2%
Could you please take a look at this issue?
