Sensitivity Analysis

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well!

I have a question about conducting a sensitivity analysis using One Click LCA. Specifically, I’m curious if there’s an automated way to test how different transportation distances affect the analysis results. For instance, if the transportation distance is uncertain, can the tool automatically evaluate various distances and generate a chart showing the relationship between distance changes and an impact category like Global Warming Potential (GWP)?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Mohammed and welcome to the One Click LCA Community!

The default transportation settings are dependent on the profiles selected, as they are usually predefined by the certification or regulation you are pursuing. You are however always able to edit and change these distances accordingly.

While we do not have an automation that allows you to generate various distances, you can change the distances of groups of materials at once, without having to do this manually for each material. Check out the feature that allows you to do that here: https://oneclicklca.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4409615221778-Group-Edit

Generally, when sensitivity analysis are done in One Click LCA you would create several design options and change the e.g. transportation settings in each of the designs so you can compare all options with each other with ease. The differences between the A4 (transport) and overall emissions would be highlighted in the graphs and on the results page when you use the ‘compare’ function.

Long answer short, there is no automatic way to perform a sensitivity analysis, but you can do it relatively easily by creating copies of your design and applying the changes to these copies after which the comparison is straightforward.

Hope this helps!
