Hi,
What would you recommend to do if you don’t have a datapoint for the refrigerant used in a product? Is it possible to scale the environmental impact with GWP-value? Because GWP-values of the refrigerants are available and you can find some refrigerants from Ecoinvent.

Hi,
If you can find a proxy datapoint (e.g. Refrigerant R134a production (Reference product: refrigerant R134a) you are allowed to scale the GWP impact to match with the GWP impact of the actual refrigerant. Please keep in mind that you need to be able to prove the GWP impact you have scaled it to.
As you will scale the mass to adjust the GWP-value of the proxy datapoint you will also have to adjust the mass balance by using a dummy datapoint. For example, if you want to lower the GWP value you will most likely lower the mass of the datapoint, which can disturb the mass balance in the model. In that case you will “up” the weight by adding a dummy datapoint (for example “Secondary material”) for which the weight will be the mass you have deducted to scale the GWP value.

Hi,
Thank you very very much again Mikhaela! And the mass balance thing is also good reminder
