Hi Steven. What’s the proper period to perform an EPD & LCA report for a building?
Hi Mohamad! It depends on which method you are aligning your results with or pursuing.
When you publish an EPD, it is valid for 5 years (after 3rd party verification and publication). While you are undertaking a building assessment, this is generally done for a period of 50 or 60 years, this can be drastically shorter if it is a fit-out or refurbishment project. Most methods (read, regulations, or certifications) have EPD-related credits, which allows you to get credits for used EPDs. To get such credits you have to use valid EPDs (type III).
