I have spent last two weeks going through the updated version of WLCA RICS v2. It is so much better document than the previous one. Much more hands on to guide through the process of WLCA. There are some new areas e.g. reporting templates, future decarbonisation of the main grid (having to calculate two options for both decarbonised grid and also not decarbonised grid) etc. . Other areas of assessment seems to have also expanded. Will these changes be incorporated into the LCA for July 2024 when this standard will be in force?
Hi Jana! It’s much improved indeed, RICS listened to all the feedback and clarified quite a few things. We will incorporate all the changes indeed, however, we plan to release the new tool already during this quarter so everyone can get familiar with the new tool and method before it becomes mandatory.
Some of these changes we already highlighted in the RICS webinar a while ago like the additions of A0 and A5.1.
We have a support article that lists what we have already implemented, and what soon will be available too: https://oneclicklca.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/11849242079644
Hi Steven, this is brilliant. And what about the templates. Will the format of final report on OneClick be any different than the current one and in line with the required template? or will this rely on downloading a Excel Spreadsheet from OneClick to populate the template? thank you.
The exported results will indeed be aligned with the template, I am not 100% sure if it will be an exact match but we will make it as low-effort as possible to populate the RICS templates.
Hi Steven, i’m wondering if you’d be able to comment on wether theres any plans to include b2/b3 estimates for early design stages as per the new guidance, its recommended to use 10kgco2e/m2 or 1% of a1-5 whichever is larger, currently to do this requires exporting the oneclick output into a separate excel sheet, is there any plan to add these calculations as a feature of the WLC tool?
Hi Liam! These are already implemented in the new RICS2 tool. You have the option of either using the B2 and B3 scenarios or manually reporting the consumption of grid electricity, water, fuels, and replacement parts. In the current tool, this was indeed not possible to integrate anymore however the new RICS2 tool will be fully aligned with the new guidance document.
Thats great thanks Steven, look forward to getting hands on with the new tool.
I’ve also just seen on the support article that you’re willing to let select customers try out the tool now as part of the testing, is this still an option?
Hi Liam, it is indeed. If you would like to test it I can grant you access to our Insider group and give you access to test the tool. Just let me know with a reply!
yeah that would be great, thanks
@Liam you now have access to the section on the forum to provide feedback directly to the responsible product manager, and access to a license in One Click LCA which lets you test the tool. Good luck!
@Steven Hi, are you still offering the testing option for the RICS v2 tool? Could I also have access to it? Thanks in advance!
Hi Tamanna,
thank you for your post and welcome to the community!
Since the new RICS v2 tool is going to be released on 19th March, the user testing phase has already been closed, meaning we no longer provide any prior access.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or requests that we can help with.
Hi,
Apologies if this is not the correct place for this question, but when will the FINAL version of the RICS v2 tool be released? (I’m aware that we currently have the beta version but I was wondering when it will be finalised).
Thanks in advance!
Hi Tamanna,
Thanks for reaching out! The RICS v2 will be effective from the 1st of July 2024.
