As part of the European Green Deal, the revised Construction Products Regulation (CPR) has been provisionally agreed upon by the European Council and Parliament, aiming to enhance consistency and transparency.
The updated CPR, part of a broader sustainability package, addresses shortcomings in the current standardization system and introduces digital data requirements to evaluate the lifetime environmental impact, energy efficiency, and circularity of buildings and construction materials.
Key points include the mandatory disclosure of Global Warming Potential (GWP) for all construction products, the promotion of green public procurement, and an acceleration of standardization processes.
The revised CPR is expected to be published in the Official Journal by March 2024, with existing rules remaining in force until 2039.
